Each spring, the orchestra hosts a Young Artist Competition open to Colorado high school students. Participants play a movement of a concerto and receive feedback from a panel of judges. The winner receives a cash prize and performs their piece with the orchestra at our final concert of the season!

Young Artist Competition
We are excited to announce the winner of our 2026 Young Artist Competition, Timothy Dombrowski, for his performance of Lebedev’s Concerto in One Movement for Bass Trombone! He will will receive the Heather Cowan Memorial Award, a $2000 cash prize sponsored by the Cardonne family, and will perform with us on May 1st, 2026!
The judges would also like to award honorable mentions to Sadie Han for the Sibelius Violin Concerto, Sawyer Payne for the Dvorak Cello Concerto, Johanna Shaffer for the Shostakovich Cello Concerto, and Raditya Muljadi for the Chopin Piano Concerto.
